The organizing committee and the primary sponsor,
‘Pelling Insurance’, are pleased to announce that on
Labour Day Saturday, September 1, 2012, the second
annual Crescent Beach Invitational will be held on the
grassy lawn of spectacular Blackie Spit in Crescent
Beach, British Columbia. Continuing in the spirit of the
former Steamworks Concours, the 2012 event will mark the
10th year that we have brought together a Labour Day
long weekend gathering of Collector Automobiles and
Motorcycles.
We are now actively sourcing for this year’s concours
and accepting nominations of exceptional automobiles and
motorcycles.
This year’s event will now be a full Concours d’Elegance
format.
Applications for consideration will be accepted up to
July 1st. From these applications the committee will
select up to 80 outstanding entrants. This year, as in
the past, entrants will come from all over the west
coast of Canada and the United States, cover a broad
span of makes and years and include vehicles that are
often rare and seldom seen by the public.
The Concours will be officially open from 10 am until 3
pm. There is no admission charge for entrants or the
public, although donations to Children’s Hospital at the
event will be appreciated. We are also delighted to
report that the 2011 Invitational participants raised
$2,397.58 for Children’s Hospital.
Blackie Spit is a well-known wildlife conservation area,
which makes it unique as a venue. The ‘by the ocean’
setting’ is within walking-distance to Crescent Beach
restaurants and businesses and the lovely Dunsmuir
Community Gardens. Once again we will be using the Ocean
Promenade Hotel in White Rock as our entrant hotel and
Beecher Place for our entrant reception.
We welcome local businesses as sponsors and would be
pleased to talk to them about ways they can get involved
in the event. For more information, please contact Colin
or Laurel Gurnsey at 604-980-7429 or e-mail lgurnsey@telus.net
